The value of compelling prose is that the reader becomes riveted with the story, wanting to turn the page and absorb what the writer has placed there. Historians have a tendency to get mired in the research and facts and forget to be compelling, to tell a story, to excite.
For this, the final blog post, the assignment was to look at and analyze a sample of historical writing from one of our favorite historians. Hanson does not like words that end in -ly.
